Bale Thanks Ronaldo

Former Tottenham star Gareth Bale has thanked Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for the way he has helped him settle at the new club. Bale moved to Madrid for £ 85 million in the summer. However, many were sceptical about the 24-year-old being a successor to the Santiago Bernebeu because several English players have failed at this club in the past. The former PFA Player of the Year, though, has been spectacular. His influence on the team has been growing with every passing match and he now forms an important part of the attack.

Bale has said that he has settled extremely well and this is partly because of the presence of his former Tottenham teammate Luka Modric. The Croatian midfielder played along with Bale for several years before moving to Madrid in a £ 35 million deal. Unlike Bale, Modric struggled in his first season in Spain and it was only in the last few months that he has been delivering on a consistent basis. Bale has accepted that the presence of Modric played a huge role in settling, while he also credited Ronaldo for helping him with various aspects of living in Spain.

He has rejected suggestions that Ronaldo is an arrogant character, as he says that he is one of the best persons he has come across.

"Since the first step that I made into Real Madrid he's been absolutely amazing with me. He's given me advice on and off the pitch, with football matters and not and he's given me advice where to live and stuff like that. He is such a nice guy, so helpful, always wants the best for the team and obviously people write things about him but people who actually know him know exactly what he is like and he's a great man," said Bale.
