Ronaldo: I felt Real Connection

Cristiano Ronaldo insists that he chose well when he picked to move on to Real Madrid, having won everything it was possible to win in England with Manchester United. In a radio interview, Ronaldo gave him view on making it to the top, and staying there!

"Madeira is a pretty island that has a lot going on. Everyone knows me there, which I guess is the price you pay for being famous. Playing professional football is what I chose as a career."

"When I was 16 I had to choose between becoming a professional or continuing my studies. When I joined Sporting I would train in the morning and study at night. I was called up many times to play with the first team. One day I told my mom that I had to choose between studying and football, and thank God I chose football."

"My dream was to reach Sporting's first team. Once I got there I felt I could go on to bigger and better things. Many clubs took interest in me, which motivated me even further."

"Moving from Madeira to Lisbon was one of the most difficult moments of my life. I left my family when I was only 11. I cried every day. So moving to Manchester wasn't so tough after that. I was a lot stronger at the age of 18. I didn't speak the language, but Diego Forlan helped me a lot."

"All cycles come to an end. If after six or seven years you have won everything at a club, both individually and with the team, you have a desire to win other things, so why not change? Change is good sometimes. My cycle there was coming to and end because I wanted other things: a new country, a new mentality, different style of football. I chose to come to Real Madrid and I chose well; I am very happy that I did."

"I always felt a connection with this club because of its history. The day I was presented was an historic day. I was a little nervous. The stadium was packed. It was special; a dream come true. A day I will never forget. Perhaps more is demanded of me because of the circumstances, but I like challenges. That's how I see it."

"Raul is the face of Real Madrid. All the years he has played here; everthing he has won. I admire him and respect him. I hope he continues for many years to come. We can all improve over time."
