Manchester United 4 v 1 Barnet
Old Trafford, Manchester
26th October 2005
An understrength side met Barnet, with Fergie sticking to his policy of playing youngsters in the earlier rounds of the Carling Cup.
The likes of Giuseppe Rossi and Gerard Pique were on show to the masses, and impressed.
Their job was made easier when Barnet's hapless keeper collected the ball outside the box within the first 80 seconds, and was sent promptly to the dressing room. There goes his Old Trafford Dream.
Miller scored the subsequent free-kick against the sub-keeper, and United went from strength to strength from there - not surprising against a Division 2 team!
Richardson got the second when his free-kick floated in unintentionally at the back-post, before Rossi sealed it with a nice left-footed volley.
Barnet grabbed a goal back when Pique slipped over, but Ebanks-Blake put the game beyond doubt with a well taken rounding of the keeper.
Ronaldo will have watched with interest as these are his future team-mates!
