Osasuna hold Real

Even Cristiano Ronaldo couldn't get through a strong Osasuna defence to score the much-needed goal for Real Madrid, which left them having to be satisfied with a 0-0 draw.

Ronaldo played the full 90 minutes, and had a chance or two along the way, but was unable to convert the posession and chances into goals. Had madrid managed to steal a goal, they would have headed to the top of the Primera Liga, because Barca drew on the Saturday.

Real Madrid dominated, but couldn't create any clear-cut chances in the first half. The Madridistas were more energetic in the second half. Cristiano Ronaldo dribbled past two defenders and pulled off a powerful shot that Ricardo cleared with his fists before Ronaldo again tried to score from a shot from outside the box.

The Whites' dominance steadily grew. Ronaldo had a free-kick in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the stands. Higuain then had the clearest chance in the game when Flaño opened up the way for him by slipping. The Argentine faced Ricardo alone, but the keeper made a magnificent save, sending the ball over the crossbar to complete a frustrating day for Real.
