Ronaldo Wants to be Best

Cristiano Ronaldo reckons he wouldn't be surprised to be called the World's best footballer (and nor would we!)

Speaking to the Press after the Portugal loss to Italy, Ronaldo was in a reflective mood. "I don't need to demonstrate that I am the No.1 in the world," said Ronaldo. "Over the nine months of the season the work you do will show who really is the best. If I am named the best in the world, it won't be a surprise to me.

"I'm 23 now and I never believed I would find myself in such a privileged position in the world of football, playing at the highest level for a club of United's standing.

"But now I am fully prepared for the biggest challenges that lie ahead for me as a player. I want to win everything - the Premier League, the Champions League and Euro 2008, because I am very ambitious."

Football remains Rony's priority - in spite of his good looks. "They say that I have style and it is true that I worry a little about taking care of my image, but I am not Brad Pitt. My profession is to play football, not to be an actor.

"My teammates joke with me, they say I take too long getting ready in the dressing room. They could be right! But I like to take care of my style, because that is part of my personality.

"But I don't want anyone to be mistaken, I have already said that my desire and my profession is football. I don't want to be a model, either."
