Gonzalo Higuain pleased to be playing with Cristiano Ronaldo again

Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain has said that he is happy to be playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo again.

The duo were teammates when they were together at Real Madrid between 2009 and 2013 and Higuain is excited to be reunited with the Portugal international, who has become the complete player at the current phase of his career.

Speaking to reporters, Higuain said that Ronaldo has become more complete with the progression made over the years and he is happy to play alongside him after six seasons, he told: “I haven't played with him in years, at Real Madrid he was young and now he is more complete, he has gotten better in everything and has created great records. I am happy to have found him again.”

Meanwhile, Higuain has not played in the Champions League since Juventus’ last-gasp defeat to Real Madrid in 2018 and he is looking forward to playing in the elite competition again, he added: “My return to the Champions League? I missed playing in this competition. The last memory is bittersweet. That loss to Real still burns, but I am happy to have returned to playing in the competition with Juventus.”

Higuain had a tough loan spell with Chelsea during the backend of the previous campaign where he worked under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri. Thereafter, the Bianconeri made the decision to appoint Sarri as the new head coach and there was the speculation that Higuain could be offloaded from the club’s ranks.

However, that was certainly not the case with the marksman deciding to prove his worth to the manager and he has started the current season in a positive manner with one goal from two appearances. Juventus return from the international break with an away game at Fiorentina. Higuain can be fancied to start upfront after scoring in the 4-3 thriller against Napoli.
