Rio Ferdinand believes Kylian Mbappe can become the world’s best in years to come

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has said that Kylian Mbappe has the potential to become the world’s best player once the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi drop with their performance levels. The France international has transformed into one of the world’s most consistent players in the 20 months where he has enjoyed success at both club and national level.

Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said that the fans have been lucky to witness the heights of Messi and Ronaldo over the years but Mbappe has the credentials to become the world’s best player in the future. He added that Neymar was possibly regarded as the heir to the experienced duo but he has not progressed with the same consistency since leaving Barcelona for Parc des Princes.

“He said: “We have been lucky to witness the brilliance of Messi and Ronaldo“ in the last few years, but their incredible careers will soon come to an end and Mbappe is the most likely player to fill the void they will leave behind at the top of the game. It looked like Neymar would be the man when he was coming through at Barcelona and then made the world record move to PSG, “but Mbappe is moving “ ahead of him in my view.”

Mbappe won the domestic treble with Les Parisiens during the previous campaign and he continued the form into the World Cup where Les Bleus were crowned as the new champions. The former Monaco graduate has pretty much progressed in the same fashion during the current season but he may not be entirely happy regarding the proceedings, given Les Parisiens were ousted at the round of 16 stage of the Champions League for the third season running. Meanwhile, Les Parisiens have also been ousted from the Coupe de la Ligue at the quarter final stage against Guingamp and they can only celebrate a domestic double for the campaign.
